Zachery and the Tree

Once upon a time, long, long ago there was a kingdom that was filled with happiness, love and above all magic. This kingdom was ruled by a beautiful queen named Daphne, who was also kind and gentle. The people of the kingdom loved their queen and did nothing to upset her or give her trouble.
Queen Daphne had three magic treasures, which were the source of her kingdoms magic. The first treasure was a magic silver flute. Whenever Queen Daphne blew into it all the plants and crops would flourish. The second treasure was a magic white goose. It laid gold and silver eggs for the kingdoms money. The third treasure was a magic sword, with a ruby, sapphire, emerald, diamond and pearl decorated on the handle. It had the magic ability to defeat any enemy and could cut through everything no matter what size or material.
All was peaceful, but one day something dreadful happened. An ugly, mean, looking, giant arrived at the palace, unexpectedly, and stole both Queen Daphne and her three treasures. After the giant took the queen and three treasures the people of the kingdom became sad and worried. Without Queen Daphne and her three magic treasures the kingdom was doomed. The crops in the fields would never flourish without the magic flute. No one would get money from the magic goose eggs and without the magic sword the kingdom would be destroyed by enemies. No one knew what to do or how to save their queen.
“I know exactly how to save the queen” said a voice. The voice belonged to Queen Daphne’s fairy godmother Felicity.  Everyone listened to what Felicity had to say. “The giant, that took the queen and treasures, is named Valtor, and it may be dangerous to save Queen Daphne from him”. She explained that Valtor lived in a giant castle in the sky. Next she took out a seed from her pocket. “This seed,” she said “is a magic seed and it will grow right up to Valtors castle in the sky. Now who will accept the mission of rescuing the queen?”
One person, a young man, stepped forward. “I will rescue the queen” he said. His name was Zachery and was a very brave and loyal soldier. He would do anything to protect the queen and kingdom, even if it meant costing his own life. Felicity and everyone else agreed that Zachery was the right man for the job. So Felicity planted the seed into the ground and watered it. Then by magic the seed sprouted into a little tree, and then suddenly the little tree grew taller, taller and taller. In no time at all the little tree was the tallest tree in the whole world. So tall in fact it reached the sky. Everyone was speechless; they had never seen a tree so tall in their lives. Taking a big gulp Zachery walked up to the tree, and then turned to face everyone.
“Everyone I will bring back both Queen Daphne and the magic treasures. I will not fail you I promise that.”
He began to slowly climb up the tree, while receiving cheers and shouting’s of ‘Good luck’ and ‘Be careful’ from everyone. Zachery climbed up and up and up the tree, taking a few breaks now and again. It took a very long time as the magic tree was very, very tall, but finally Zachery reached the top.
A magnificent sight came upon Zachery when he reached the top. Where the giant Valtor lived was a world of clouds. There were white and grey clouds and many of them were in different shapes and forms. Zachery couldn’t believe it; he thought no one could live on top of clouds. Even though there were clouds everywhere, Valtors castle could easily be seen. Valtor’s castle wasn’t made of cloud, it was a normal stone castle, but very large, and it had of big garden of trees and flowers.
Zachery began to walk towards the castle. There was a garden path all the way to the castle door, so Zachery didn’t have to walk through the long grass. The grass and flowers were taller than Zachery and he could’ve gotten lost if he walked through it. This was a real adventure for Zachery. Since the kingdom had been at peace Zachery didn’t really have much to do except guard the castle. That really bored him, but this mission of rescuing the queen didn’t. When he reached the castle door it was closed, but he easily squeezed through the gap under the door.
Inside everything was huge. Zachery felt like he was a small mouse inside the huge castle. He wondered where he could find the queen, but his answer came quicker than expected. There was shouting coming from inside the dining room, where Valtor was eating his dinner and arguing with the queen. Queen Daphne was locked up in a cage on the table and her three treasures were lying next to her cage. Valtor hadn’t put those in the cage as well. The reason why Valtor kidnapped her was because, not only did he want her treasures, he wanted her to become his wife. But Queen Daphne refused.
“I will never be your wife Valtor!” she shouted.
With rage building up inside of him, Valtor warned Queen Daphne that if she didn’t make up her mind soon he would tear her kingdom apart. Then he stomped away upstairs for a nap. Queen Daphne didn’t know what to do; she didn’t want her kingdom destroyed but she certainly didn’t want to be Valtor’s wife.
Meanwhile Zachery had heard everything, which meant that he didn’t have a lot of time to save the queen and get back to the kingdom. So he had to work fast. First he had to get up onto the table, to reach the cage that held Queen Daphne. Luckily the table cloth that covered the table also reached the floor. Zachery used the cloth to climb up to the top of the table. Once he reached the top, he ran straight to Queen Daphne’s cage. Queen Daphne was happy when she saw Zachery and told him what happened with Valtor.
“No need to fear my queen, I have come here to save you and bring you back home” said Zachery.
There was a problem though, the cage was locked and the key was hung on a hook on the wall. Zachery then noticed there was a house plant on the floor beneath the hook. Zachery asked Queen Daphne if he could borrow the magic flute. Queen Daphne agreed and Zachery played a tune to make the house plant grow taller. Soon the house plant was long enough to reach the hook. Zachery climbed down the table cloth, ran towards the house plant and climbed up it. As soon as he reached the top he grabbed the key. The key wasn’t very heavy, so it was easy for Zachery to climb down the house plant carrying the key. Then he climbed up the table cloth again and unlocked Queen Daphne’s cage.
After Queen Daphne was set free, Zachery explained to her that they had to find the magic tree and climb down it to get back to the kingdom. Queen Daphne understood and thanked Zachery for everything. Zachery grabbed the magic flute and sword and Queen Daphne held onto the magic goose. First they both climbed down the table cloth, squeezed under the castle door and ran across the garden path, to the magic tree.
Suddenly there was a mighty roar. Valtor had woken up from his nap and had realised that Queen Daphne and her treasures were gone. Zachery was worried, there was no way that they were going to climb down the magic tree fast enough to escape. But he suddenly had an idea; there was a very big leaf that had fallen off one of the giants trees. He explained to Queen Daphne that they could use the very big leaf to float back down to the kingdom, instead of climbing down the tree. Queen Daphne agreed to the idea and she and Zachery moved the leaf towards the edge of the clouds. Next Queen Daphne sat down on her leaf, with her treasures, and Zachery pushed the leaf off the edge and quickly jumped onto the leaf himself.   Floating back down to the kingdom on the leaf was quicker and safer, than climbing down the tree.
In no time at all the giant leaf finally landed on the ground, at the bottom of the tree, with the queen safe and sound. The people of the kingdom, who were waiting all this time, were happy to have their queen back and congratulated Zachery for saving the queen. Felicity who was happy to have her godchild back was very grateful to Zachery and praised him for being the bravest soldier in the kingdom.
Suddenly there was a loud roar coming from the top of the magic tree. It was Valtor! He had found out that the queen was back at her kingdom and started to climb down the magic tree to get her back. At this moment everyone was frightened and getting in a panic. Zachery quickly asked Queen Daphne for the magic sword. Queen Daphne gave him the sword and Zachery ran towards the magic tree. With the magic sword in his hands he began to chop the tree. The swords magic easily went through the magic tree trunk. With thirty quick strokes Zachery finally cut down the magic tree. Both Valtor and the tree fell to the ground with a big thud and Valtor died.
After Valtor’s death the kingdom was at peace again. Queen Daphne and her treasures were back at the castle where they both belonged and there was no more trouble in the kingdom. As for Zachery he married Queen Daphne for they had been in love with each other for a long time and actually told each other of their feelings after Valtor died. Everyone had agreed that Zachery would be the perfect partner because of all the brave and dangerous things he went through to rescue Queen Daphne. Even Felicity gave him her permission to marry Queen Daphne and gave them both her blessing. So Zachery and Queen Daphne lived happily ever after.
